Mom's Best Chicken Fried Steak

3 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
3 eggs, beaten
1 cup buttermilk
4 cube steaks
cooking oil

Combine the first 7 ingredients in a medium bowl. Combine the eggs and buttermilk in a shallow pan. Dip each cube steak in the egg mix; dredge in the flour mix, coating well. Dip each in the egg mix again, and again in the flour. Lay on waxed paper for 10 minutes to air dry. Heat 1/2 inch of oil in a skillet. Fry the steaks for 10 minutes over low heat; turn and fry for 10 minutes. The pan drippings make a great gravy. Serves 4.
