1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon dried leaf thyme, crumbled
2 cups low sodium beef broth
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon ketchup
hot cooked rice

Heat shortening in a large skillet over medium heat; add onions and fry until browned. Add beef; turn heat to medium-high and fry until browned. Mix flour with the salt, pepper and thyme; sprinkle over the beef. Add broth, vinegar, and ketchup. Stir to blend ingredients.
