Easy and Different Bean Soup

1 c cooked ham strips
1/2 c chopped onion
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 - 16 oz can tomatoes, drained
1 - 14 oz can baked beans in molasses sauce
1/4 tsp salt
1 bay leaf
1/8 tsp crushed thyme

Saute ham strips and onion in oil until onion is tender. Place tomatoes and beans in blender containter. Process until smooth. Pour into ham mixture. Add salt, bay leaf and thyme. Bring to a boil; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Discard bay leaf before serving. Serves 4ish.
