Homemade Crispy Onion Rings

Ingredients:
4 large onions, sliced into ¼" rings
2 cups all-purpose flour
Salt and pepper
½ tsp garlic powder
Buttermilk
Oil for frying

Instructions:
Place sliced onion in a large bowl, season with salt and pepper and cover with buttermilk. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about ½ hour.

Place the flour on a shallow dish, mix in the garlic powder and season to taste with salt and pepper. Each onion ring needs to be dredged first in the flour, then dipped in the buttermilk, the again dredged in flour. Repeat with all the onion rings.

Heat the oil in a large skillet until very hot, then fry the onion rings in batches until golden brown and crispy. Drain the rings on paper towels and enjoy.
